Your source for professional video production.

What we do

AMP offers a full range of video and related media production services. We break our services down into four skill sets: Commercial ProductionEpisodic Television ProductionCorporate Media Production and Camera & Crew Provisioning for broadcasters and other production professionals.

Who we are

AMP founders and principals, Amy Lou and Sandy Abernethy have over 35 years combined experience writing, producing, shooting, editing, and delivering broadcast television and corporate media projects.  They’ve surrounded themselves with a terrific staff and a host of seasoned freelancers.  Together they’re the best bunch of production personnel in the Southwest.

The culture at AMP is one of relaxed professionalism.  We’re focused on delivering creativity and quality on time and under budget, while still maintaining a fun, low-stress work environment.  We believe that if you know what you’re doing and have prepared well, shooting and editing can be a fun, productive process.

Flexibility and responsiveness are our hallmarks. And we understand budgets and timelines. We collaborate with our clients to achieve the highest production value, the most creativity, and the most effective communication with every dollar spent.

Where we are

Our 6,000 square foot production facility with soundstage and complete post production facilities is centrally located near downtown Dallas, providing easy access to the markets we serve: Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Irving, Frisco, Arlington, and the entire North Texas area. We also provide video crews in Tyler, Wichita Falls, Amarillo, Waxahachie, Waco and Lubbock, and we have personnel available in Austin and Houston. We are also a principal source for TV crews in all parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, including the cities of Shreveport, Texarkana, Little Rock, Tulsa, Norman and Oklahoma City.

Creative Community
At AMP, we’re part of a creative community–and not just inside our four
walls. We’re lucky enough to be located near Dallas’s Arts District,
home to the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Museum of Art, the Meyerson
Symphony Center, the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts, the Winspear
Opera House, and the award-winning Booker T. Washington High School for
the Performing and Visual Arts–otherwise know as Arts Magnet. To
nurture our creative community, AMP supports the Mentoring Program at
Arts Magnet. AMP employees have the opportunity to teach master classes
in the arts of our industry and/or be paired with a high school junior
or senior who needs support in applying for college–whether that’s
choosing schools to pursue, writing essays, tracking down grants and
scholarships, or just having a caring adult who helps them progress
through the complexities of the application process. AMP has also pledged to help cover traveling expenses
for seniors to visit potential colleges.
Environment
We are taking steps to ensure that we leave our planet greener and
cleaner for future generations. Some steps are small: we drink filtered tap water instead bottled,
cutting down on plastic waste; we use post-consumer recycled
paper. Some require more commitment: we’ve partnered with Recycle
Revolution to reduce our landfill waste by 60% and use Green Mountain
energy so that our electricity is from non-polluting resources. We’ve
replaced all the fluorescent light fixtures in our building with new,
high-efficiency fixtures. We have also moved to a tapeless workflow,
which means that all those tapes are replaced by digital files-which
consumes zero space in our landfills.

AMP’s Founders:

Amy Lou Abernethy director chair Amy Lou Abernethy
Co-Owner & President
When not throwing mind-blowing office parties, Amy Louheads both the television production and corporate communications divisions of AMP.  A storyteller at heart, she started in the biz as a scriptwriter and still considers herself first and foremost a communicator – with scriptwriting, editing, or the occasional  game of office charades, she gets her message through. With more than 10 years writing and producing, she’s been there done that…and yet still manages to bring something fresh to each new project.  Just ask her about the organic goat farm shoot!Besides milking goats, Amy Lou has executive produced several shows on the Veria Network, including Simply Beautiful, What’s Brewing and the gameshow Whatta Ya Think?! Educational credits include award-winning videos for LeCroy and Voyager. On the corporate front, she has spearheaded award-winning videos for FedEx Kinko’s, Brinker International, and Regus. But of all her endeavors, she’s proudest of the team she and Sandy have assembled at AMP and the environment they’ve created where every project is an opportunity for creativity and collaboration.

Sandy Abernethy is an award-winning director and director of photography. With
over 20 years experience in the film and video industry, he’s
knowledgeable in all areas of production, making him a valuable asset on
any project. In addition to shooting and editing, Sandy also oversees
day-to-day operations at AMP, drawing on his business school background
to manage, train and motivate the dedicated staff at AMP.

He’s also sometimes allowed into creative sessions, in spite of
his unfortunate tendency to take the term “spitballing” literally.
Luckily, as of this writing, no eyes have yet been put out. “Sure,
productivity and professionalism are great, but fun productivity and
professionalism are even better.”
